Klimat.-alarmism utmanas inom NASA

Högste chefen inom NASA, Michael Griffin, uttryckte förra veckan att forskarna inte med säkerhet kan säga vad den av människan orsakade uppvärmningen av jordens klimat (AGW) har för betydelse för människan. Läs eller lyssna på intervjun med Michael på NPR på denna sida.

Griffin har även intressanta synpunkter som berör uppfattningar om vad som ska anses vara ett bra klimat (något som jag berörde i kommentarer på HAX blog). På följande fråga (4:30 in i intervjun)...

"Do you have any doubt that this is a problem that mankind has to wrestle with?"

...svarar Griffin:

"I have no doubt that a trend of global warming exists. I am not sure that it is fair to say that it is a problem we must wrestle with. To asume that it is a problem is to asume the state of earth climate today is the ultimate climate, the best climate that we could have or ever have had and that we need to take steps to make sure that it doesn't change. First of all, I don't think it's in the power of human beings to asure that the climate does not change, as millions of years of history has shown. And second of all I guess I would ask which human being, where and when are to be accorded the privilege of deciding that this particular climate that we have ehre today, right now, is the best climate for all other human beings. Ain't that a rather arrogant position for people to take?"

Uttalandena av Griffin kritiserades givetvis av NASA:s ledande AGW-apologet, James Hansen, men föjdes även av ett stödjande pressmeddelande från andra forskare. Finns att läsa på e-wire.
